Guidance and Ideas for Our Film

Co-writing the film’s opening scene had its challenges, and I found myself having uncertainties about how best to move forward. Seeking guidance, I reached out to Dua Nisar, a Media Studies senior from my school who earned a distinction in A-levels in June 2023 and is now living in Canada.

Even with the 12-hour time difference, Dua generously made time for a video call. I shared my plans for the film opening, and she offered thoughtful feedback. One suggestion that really stood out was the idea of including a shot where the main character places her keys down after entering the apartment. That small detail would help clarify the layout and make it clear that the door leads to an apartment, not directly to the bathroom.

I also expressed my concerns about a few shots I had in mind, worrying whether they would translate well on screen. Dua recommended practicing these shots at home to test their viability before finalizing them in the storyboard. Her advice made me feel more confident and prepared.

Beyond these specific points, Dua gave helpful tips for writing this blog and shared practical advice about managing a creative team. As we talked, I explained my idea to weave the cursed red heels into the narrative for a compelling twist. Dua loved the concept and encouraged me to pursue it. She also appreciated our decision to go with a simple yet effective storyline, pointing out its potential to leave viewers both unsettled and deeply engaged.

That conversation truly helped me refine my vision for the project and approach it with renewed confidence.
